The James Dyson Foundation seeks to support charitable projects local to Malmesbury, the town where Dyson is based. In particular, the trustees of the foundation are especially keen to support organizations that work within the fields of design and engineering education and medical and scientific research.

Dyson's own employees also contribute to the Foundation and are encouraged to take an active role in selecting projects and fundraising, especially for Dyson's charity partnerships.
