Folding Plug. UK

Problem:

Most people carry laptops with a charger to ensure that they have power when they need it. In the UK, the large UK plug can tear paper, scratch laptops and damage other items when stored in a bag.

Development:

Following in-depth research into relevant British Standards, small-scale feedback sessions and informal testing with colleagues, 3D CAD and other prototypes were developed, assessing the function and layout of the Folding Plug.

Solution:

The Folding Plug compresses the standard UK plug into a 10mm thick object that is easy to transport and store. The flat properties of the folding plug also inspired the development of a multi-plug adapter that allows 3 folding plugs to fit in the space of one standard UK plug.
